School of Christ Study to show thyself approved unto God

Welcome to The School of Christ

This Week's Memory Verse:

These Signs Shall Follow Them That Believe
When Jesus spoke those words some 2,000 years ago, did He mean them or didn't He? If he did, why are so many "followers" of Christ living in fear?

Fear Not!
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

Don't Let Bullies Hold You Down
Sticks and stone may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. That's what I heard over and over while growing up. My siblings and I were continually reminded to "consider the source." In other words, if someone is saying something about you that you know isn't right, ignore them. That's great practical advice. Who cares what a liar thinks? So why do so many people in America in 2018 get so "offended" about every perceived ill-spoken word?

No More God Free Zones
As America tries to deal with a horrendous school shooting in Florida, we're forced to listen to two sides offering up ideas. Both sides agree that something needs to be done. And both sides think that there's something the government "should" do to fix the problem. But neither side seems willing to acknowledge the root problem: we send our children into God-Free zones and now we're reaping the inevitable consequences.

My Words Shall Not Pass Away
Have you ever thought about how great our Lord and Savior really is? I don't mean singing songs or things like that, necessarily. What I mean is have you ever considered what He Himself has said about Himself? For instance, in Matthew 24:35 Jesus says the following: Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Think about that for a moment. Heaven and earth will pass away, but the words of our Lord will not pass away. So Jesus' words must carry an importance we don't always seem to grasp.

Are You Ready?
No one can escape death. Death doesn’t care how much money or fame you have. It doesn’t care how smart you are. Or how pretty you are. Or anything else. Death is inevitable, followed by judgment before God, as the writer of Hebrews says so clearly:
Hebrews 9:27
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
So what can we do? There are only two options. Of those two, only one really makes any sense. Let’s take a look at them.

No Murderer Hath Eternal Life
1 John 3:15 15) Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

That's what the Apostle John said in his first epistle. And he was talking about God's standard that Jesus revealed in His Sermon on the Mount. There, our Lord explained that we don't even have to physically murder someone to be guilty of murder in God's sight. Just being angry without a cause can be enough to make us guilty of murder.

Have We Had Enough Yet?
A couple of narcissistic liars running for President. A current President who has spent his time in office lying and stirring up hatred and strife. A corrupt Justice department giving a pass to one of the above mentioned liars because she's above the law. Politicized police shootings. Islamic terrorism. And now a man shoots a bunch of police officers, killing five of them, because he hated white people. And the government's proposed solution? Some "tough discussions" and more "gun control" laws. Had enough yet?

Love Your Enemies
As if there's not enough hatred and violence to go around, now we have to deal with "Reverends" who blaspheme God's name while trying to make names for themselves. Jeremiah Wright was bad enough, preaching hatred against white people. Now we have another "reverend", stirring people to violence while blaspheming God's Name.

Does God Still Speak?
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” With that simple, matter-of-fact statement, God’s Word begins. Evolutionists laugh. Atheists scoff. The world ignores. But what God has revealed is something so profound that men must take notice.

Obedience Isn't Optional
One of the most disturbing trends within Christianity is the idea that being saved by grace somehow exempts us from having to be obedient to the Lord. But that's not what God's Word teaches. In fact, God's Word actually teaches that without obedience, we're hopeless. Don't believe me? Let's take a look at God's Word and see who's right.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh
As the war against Christ and His people intensifies, take courage in the fact Almighty God is aware of what's going on. He not only sees the actions of those who defy Him, he knows their hearts as well as ours (Hebrews 4:13).

If You’re an American Christian Then Vote!
One of the things in Christianity that I don’t understand is why Christians in America choose not to vote. The explanations are usually along the line of “the government is worldly” or “the government is evil” and Christians are not to be a part of that worldliness. But is that thinking correct? Let’s take a brief look at what God’s Word has to say on this.

Man Does Not Live By Bread Alone
When Jesus quoted that verse from Deuteronomy (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4) while being tempted by Satan, He set a standard for all believers to follow. He made it clear that physical life is only one small part of the big picture. That big picture includes the more important part which is spiritual life. We can make mistakes in our physical life but those mistakes are only temporary. Spiritual mistakes, on the other hand, have eternal consequences. That's why we have to get the spiritual part right.
