The End of the World?
5/15/2011

A New York man has spent his entire life's savings proclaiming that Judgment Day and the end of the world are going to occur on May 21, 2011. He says a killer earthquake will strike at 6:00pm Eastern time. But how does this line up with what the Bible actually teaches about Judgment Day?

The truth is that the Scripture teaches something quite different. In a nutshell, God's Word teaches that the Rapture of His people is imminient (1 Corinthians 15:51-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18). This means it could happen at any time and we need to be ready at any moiment.

After the Rapture the world will see the entrance of the "anti-christ" though it won't recognize him as such. At least, not at first. He'll sign a peace treaty with Israel for seven years which will complete the 70th week of Daniel's prohecy(Daniel 9:24-27).

After that period of "Great Tribulation" (Revelation 7:14) comes the Great White Throne Judgment -- what we would refer to as Judgment Day -- where all the people who rejected Jesus the Messiah are made aware of their rebellion and are cast into the lake of fire(Revelation 20:11-15).

Finally, we'll see a new heaven and a new earth created before our eyes where Believers will live forever with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit! (Revelation 21:1-4)

So who are these "Believers?" They're all the people who repented of their sins against God and have put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) while still in this life.
